The Stuart / Palm City Experience.
Located on two peninsulas, separated by a bridge, Palm City and Stuart are more or less surrounded by water. When it comes to what attracts most people to Florida, this area offers its visitors and residents alike some of the finest beaches on the east coast.
Enjoy this natural scene with a walk on the beach, hunt for shells or watch for sea turtles crawling ashore to lay their eggs in the sand. Or, wet a line for some of the best surf, river and lake fishing in the state.
Many visitors and residents enjoy strolling the boardwalk along the St. Lucie River in downtown Stuart or saltwater fishing the Atlantic Gulf Stream via access through the St. Lucie Inlet.
The St. Lucie River and Inlet provide access to both the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River, so sport and commercial fishing has always been a major attraction.
Located on Stuart’s eastern most border lies Hutchinson Island. Hutchinson Island maintains its own brand of charm. It is a family-oriented seaside island that has retained its old-fashioned sense of community. It offering residents and visitors access to miles of pristine shoreline along the aqua blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. It is home to the Elliot Museum, the historic House of Refuge and the Florida Oceanographic Society.
Hutchinson Island is a barrier island bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Indian River, part of the Intracoastal Waterway, on the west.
Built in the 1920’s by the Corps. of Engineers, the Intracoastal Waterway spans 2,455 miles of U.S. Atlantic Coast. Although the Waterway was originally intended for commercial traffic, when the natural saltwater lanes were merged with the man-made channels, enchanting marine passages were formed providing opportunities for all types of watercraft. Palm City and Stuart, FL marinas dot the Waterway and offer safe harbor to yachts and sailboats traveling between New England and the Florida Keys, and beyond.
The creation of the Waterway also provided vast new habitats for avian and marine wildlife. The many creeks and estuaries up and down the Waterway offer nature lovers hours of entertainment watching the teeming wildlife.
The Palm City / Stuart FL Area is an idyllic place for both wildlife and its human residents. Come visit us and see for yourself.
